The
Household is a group of highly experienced living history presenters
who believe in maintaining a high standard of historical accuracy.
Knowledge of the social, economic and political context of the
lives of people in the past and meticulous attention to detail
can transform a visitor's experience of an historic site.
In
order to make our presentation as accessible as possible we re-create
the house of a silkwomen 1483-85, within the framework of modern
tents.
The
modern tents have the area of a 3 bay house of the 15th century,
and the accurately patterned hangings define the rooms. Each room
is dressed in accurate reproductions and staffed by an expert
in the area represented. In this context, we show the daily life
of a silkwoman of the late 15th century and the skills needed
to support her lifestyle.
We
pride ourselves on our communication skills, and share independent
research to ensure we are steeped in the knowledge of our period.
We
belive that getting the details correct adds to the experience
of the visitor.
